Stirring the Spirit of Community…

At first glance it may seem like an odd home for a neighborhood restaurant but what better place to build community than from within its community center?  The Bernard W. Brown Community Center, the Housing Authority of the City of Frederick, Cakes for Cause, and Historic Frederick’s new North End have come together in a unique partnership (requiring moxie, if you will) that combines fine food, elegant surroundings, and a staff whose role is to pamper you, our customer.  We invite you to linger at the table with us and enjoy the moment.

Moxie Bakery and Café is a social enterprise operated by Cakes for Cause and provides job training and support to youth in Frederick who have aged out of foster care or who live in public housing in our community. Moxie offers youth apprentices real work experience and learning opportunities that put them on the path to successful adulthood.

how you can get your own moxie…

Moxie Bakery & Cafe offers breakfast, lunch, specialty desserts and pastries and indoor and outdoor seating.  We also cater private events and have a booth at the West Frederick Farmer’s Market during the season.  Settle in for a bit or take some home with you but know that your purchase helps support some of the most vulnerable young people in our community.
